After driving through an unimpressive town and several of its massive roundabouts we arrived at the Hilton Hotel Resort which sits on the beach of the Indian Ocean.
The building and the interior of the resort looks a little tired, but the fresh faced staff made us feel instantly relaxed and ready for our beach side getaway. Our room was positioned on the second floor towards the front of the resort which was ideal for us as it was extremely quiet away from the pool which was always a hive of activity. The payoff was a slightly boring view from the balcony of other rooms and lawn.
The rooms were very comfortable and reasonable in size, even with the addition of a hotel port-a-cot which was complimentary. The bathroom was actually massive compared to many hotels we have stayed in and the shower pressure was excellent! It had all the standard features you would expect from a good hotel – a desk, lounge chair, big tv, mini bar, iron, hairdryer, robes and the typical hotel terry towel slippers. The bed, one of the most important features of a hotel, was oh so comfortable with soft, full pillows and nice linen.
The only negative I can say about the rooms is the lack of Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is only available in some of the communal areas. Maybe it’s an attempt to draw people away from their devices and switch off during their stay or a way of earning a little extra income by encouraging you to use their cable internet service. Either way, we found it a little annoying although there are plenty of quiet places around the hotel you can venture to and be online.
The Hilton Hotel Resort is a kid’s paradise. There is a large pool with a little shaded kiddy pool (pretty unappealing) and a water feature that amused Jack. There is also a shaded playground and a kids play room (only open on the weekends) as well as a tennis and basketball court perfect for the older ones. The private beach has an expansive amount of sand and a few rocks to explore. Adults are not forgotten though with treatment rooms, lounge areas, a gym, bars and even the Hilton’s very own night club. We spent most of our days in the pool with Jack which was the ideal way to tire him out and ensure he slept well.
But it was the breakfast buffet included our room deal that impressed us most. There was a large variety of sweet and savoy dishes and plenty to go around. There was a selection of egg dishes cooked to order, a juicer available for you to make your own vegetable or fruit juices, as well as a great assortment of fresh breads and rolls. Needless to say we really filled up at breakfast time to keep us well fueled throughout the day.
The Hilton Hotel Resort has everything you need and is ideal for those wanting a getaway where they can kick back and not leave the hotel. Located only 1hr drive from Dubai it is the perfect destination to get out of the city and the land of high-rises. For explorers, there are several places outside of Fujariah to get your sight-seeing fix, but Fujariah itself doesn’t win any awards of being a pretty or an inviting town.
