The Heritage Baan Silom Hotel is located in the business area of Silom. It’s relatively quite and away from the tourist attractions and seedy parts of Bangkok, but there is still plenty to do and see in the near vicinity. It is not a far walk to the BTS or MRT public transport or from the Oriental water taxi pier and there are unlimited amount of tuk tuk’s at your door step. There are also some great food options within walking distance and a shopping outlet right next door. Check out our food post for recommendations.
The architecture of the hotel is lovely and looks grand sitting within it’s own European inspired court. The foyer is spacious and modern with a concierge to meet you at the front door to assist you with your luggage and friendly reception staff it certainly is an enjoyable welcome.
Our studio room was located on the third floor with views out onto the court. Those with heavy luggage or children should note that there is no lift. The rooms are spacious, high ceilings and very light. The interiors are a modern, bespoke fit out in keeping with the rest of the building. The rooms consist of a little hallway with plenty of storage, a mini bar and safe, a bathroom with a large open shower area, a bedroom with a desk and a generous sized balcony. We were definitely impressed with the studio room and happy to see we had enough room for Jack’s cot and a big bed all to ourselves! The rooms were clean, the linen and towels were of good quality and it was made over daily.
The great first impressions didn’t last that long however. The Wi-Fi was terrible to the point we had to sit out in the hall to get any coverage. We rely heavily on Wi-Fi to keep our website up to date and to communicate with our friends and family so this was a very annoying situation for us.
In our room there was no hot water in the shower. It was a shame as it was a lovely rose shower head and a little hot water would have made it a very nice experience. The hotel staff did suggest we could move rooms, but as we had already settled in we thought a cold shower in the morning wasn’t too bad.
Breakfast wasn’t included in our room deal, but they do have a dining area where it is served if it is your package. There is a large Tops supermarket just across the street, so if you are on a budget it is much more cost effective to purchase some supplies there.
I really enjoyed our stay at the The Heritage Baan Silom Hotel although the Wi-Fi was very frustrating. The location was great and the staff were friendly without being too over the top particularly with Jack. It was nice to have a room you could spread out in and a balcony with a table setting where you could relax after a big day of sight seeing. So if you aren’t Wi-Fi dependant, than this is a great hotel for your trip to Bangkok. Oh and take a look at the fish pond outside the hotel – there is an unusual upside down swimming gold fish!
